Fantastic Ngong 1-Day Tour

A one-day tour that you can't miss. Cable car, snacks and foods, souvenirs, and traditional Buddhist temples.... all in one
A must every now and then

Excellent but expensive.
Just booked online and went there for visiting Po Lin. Excellent view and very relaxing trip. Took the bus back. This way is extremely much more comfortable
Sunset on Hong Kong...
R K L, 14-06-2020
The day trip to Lantau Island was totally a last-minute decision. Our flight from Hong Kong to San Francisco had been delayed from 12 Noon until 10:30PM, so we literally had an entire extra day. Taking the opportunity to do some new exploring seemed appropriate. Our Crystal cabin cable car with glass floor was quite the experience. Although Ngong Ping Village was basically just a theme park and tourist trap, visits to the nearby Big Buddha attraction and Po Lin Monastery complex made for a full, interesting afternoon...and then it was sunset on Hong Kong.
AvGeek Must Do But Little to do in the Ngong Ping Village

First, this review was written during Covid-19 so things will hopefully be different soon.
Honestly I was in Tung Chung for a three days staycation and the weather was cool enough to let me wonder around. I came with little expectation so I was okay with the experience. The ride itself was fine. Staffs were polite and there was no queue at all on this quiet Monday afternoon. For $235 roundtrip, the 30 minutes ride (hour roundtrip) was good value especially most folks got their own cable car given the low usage. The cable car was washed after each ride. The window was not too overly stratched but still not particularly photo friendly. As an AvGeek (aviation enthusiast), it was a fun ride overlooking the airport. Sadly, there was just not much traffic during Covid-19, but it was still nice. I valued that part the most.
There was an official photographer at Tung Chung station taking pictures of each group at the Cable Car Station. He was actually pretty good but $395 for a photo was a bit much.
Once arrived at the station in the Ngong Ping Village, I walked into a small "Chinese" village with ranges of restaurants and cafes. Then you can walk further down to the Monastery to visit the Buddha, but it is under repair now. (It makes sense since there is no tourist now!)
Please beware that there is no air conditioning with the cable car so it might not be that nice in the summer.
Great views, long lines
bensimmons12, 28-12-2020
The views are unbeatable, and Ngong Ping is a quaint little place. Unfortunately, the lines are absurdly long and there are many crying children in the long lines. We had to wait 40 minutes on the way up and more than an hour on the way down. The long lines greatly compromised the experience
