Lantau island
1 hr - Vanuit uw hotel in het centrum is de autorit naar het eiland Lantau ongeveer 60 minuten. Met onze beperkte wegenvergunning zijn we in staat om direct naar de attracties te rijden met gedoe. Onderweg kunnen we de Disneyland hotels in Hong Kong (rijpas) de serene natuur van de ongerepte nationale parken van Hong Kong zien.

Tai O
1 hr 30 min - Het beroemde 500 jaar oude vissersdorp. Het Venetië van Hong Kong. Verkennen van het authentieke vissersdorp dat je niet wilt missen. Wandelen door huizen met tinplaten waar de lokale bevolking woont en zich vermengen met de sfeer van de lokale bevolking. De prachtige landschappen zijn geweldige mogelijkheden voor foto's. Er is ook een mogelijkheid om een boottocht te maken (optioneel) om naar het open water van de delta van de Parelrivier te gaan en een glimp op te vangen van de langste over-zeebrug ter wereld (34 mijl)

Grote Buddha
30 min - Een bezoek aan de belangrijkste attractie van de dag. Het voertuig wordt geparkeerd in de tempel en loopt de 250 treden op om omhoog te lopen naar de Boeddha, onderdeel van de studiereis van het boeddhisme. Mochten stappen een probleem zijn (ouderen of mensen met een handicap), stel dan uw gids op de dag op de hoogte en we kunnen afspraken maken.

Po Lin (Precious Lotus) Monastery
20 min - Het Po Lin-klooster werd gesticht sinds de jaren 1970 en heeft zich vandaag heringericht tot zijn traditionele Chinese architectuurontwerp. Een van de meest populaire boeddhistische tempel in Hong Kong. Af en toe zijn er boeddhistische studieceremonies die het gebied religieus inrichten om je ervaring te verbeteren.

Lantau/Big Buddha Tour

Liz was an excellent tour guide and the driver was also very accommodating. Liz's English was very good as was her knowledge of Hong Kong and Lantau Island. She went out of her way to take pictures of us at the big Buddha and at other stops during the tour.

A beautiful, fun day

I love Hong Kong and have been there before but my prior trip to Lantau was with a bus full of people on a dreary day. We couldn't even see the Buddha on my first visit. This tour was just a few friends and our guide, Jacky, who made every moment fun and interesting. It was a beautiful, clear day too. We also did an evening tour of markets and food vendors where we tasted some local snacks and had dinner at a restaurant that only a local would have been able to find.

Reliable, informative, fun. Highly recommendable.

The best use of your time if you want to cover Lantau island efficiently. We arrived early morning to HK airport and went directly to the tour. Jackie was very nice, reliable and helpful. I would highly recommend him. His van has tourism access to the roads and you cover a lot in a morning.

Hong Kong Highlights

My wife and I visited Hong Kong for the first time last month and were so fortunate to have been introduced to This Is Asia Tours by a friend in California who had used their services, Jacky Wong in particular. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, spoke great English, and was extremely accommodating as we put together an optimal itinerary for our tour. The trip to the Big Buddha is a must see. We also took a 3-hour walking tour with Jacky and it was both extremely informative and a great workout. I am sure we saw things from an insiders perspective that most would not get on the average tour. Upon return to the US I contacted our travel agent to pass on what a terrific experience we had and recommended that they refer customers to This is Asia Tours.

Flawless Visit to Lantau Island with This is Asia Tours

We recently returned from a cruise which originated in Hong Kong. Prior to the cruise we spent three days in the Tsim Sha Tsui area. Since our group of four long-time friends had previously visited Hong Kong’s major tourist sites we reserved only one tour during our stay. We booked a five hour private car tour to Lantau Island via Viatour. “This is Asia Tours” actually provided the tour and its owner Jacky was our guide and driver. The tour was exactly as advertised and was exactly what we were wanting. Jacky was knowledgeable about Lantau Island’s history and the island’s current status. He provided excellent commentary during the drive to the island. Within an hour we transitioned from the hectic urban nature of the city to the quieter and mostly rural island environment. Our first stop was at a beautiful reservoir; we then drove up to the base of the Big Buddha and climbed more than 250 stops to the top. Jacky provided excellent details about the Big Buddha during the climb. Once we reached the summit, Jacky described in detail the history of the construction of the temple and he explained the nature of the various smaller sculptures surrounding the Big Buddha. The descent was also slow and peppered with interesting tidbits that Jacky shared with us. We then walked to the nearby Po Lin Monastery and spent considerable time outside the Grand Hall of 10,000 Buddhas where Jacky shared more background information about its history and Buddhism. We then drove from the inland setting to the far western coast of the island to the Tai O fishing village where Jacky shared with us the long history of the small enclave which vastly differs from the modern, bustling city of Hong Kong. We walked through the village and then took a boat ride out to open waters where we saw pink dolphins and the sprawling Hong Kong airport in the distance. We then walked through another area of the village to the Kwan Tai Temple which dates back to the late 18th century. After watching the sunset over the village, we walked back to Jacky’s comfortable van for the one hour drive back to our hotel in Hong Kong. Jacky provided a flawless afternoon visit to Lantau Island. His commentary and descriptions were excellent. As an added bonus, he took great photos of us as we explored the island with him and those photos will provide great reminders of our tour. Jacky and his “This is Asia Tour” company helped us see a part of Hong Kong that was so different from our previous tourist experiences in Hong Kong.
